Software development, internal tools and automation

Web apps, client portals, internal tools, integrations and automation built around how you really work. Delivered in iterations, documented, and the code is yours.

JA Services, a Montreal IT company, builds custom software: web applications, client portals, internal tools and automations.

When no off-the-shelf software fits the way you work, the answer is sometimes to build something that does. We develop web applications, client portals, APIs and integrations between your existing systems, with a simple approach: understand the need, deliver a usable first version quickly, then improve in steps.

We choose common, well-documented technologies so your software doesn't depend on us forever. The code belongs to you, hosting can be handled by us or elsewhere, and documentation ships with it.

At every step you see what works, not promises. Pricing is fixed per phase when scope is clear, hourly when it isn't.

Custom internal tools

There's almost always a task in a small business that someone does by hand every week because "that's how it's done". An Excel file retyped, a report assembled from three sources, a list emailed and then re-entered elsewhere.

We start by looking at how the work is really done, not how it's supposed to be done. Then we build the smallest tool that solves the problem: an internal page, a form, a dashboard, a button that does the thing. Not a platform, not a six-month project.

The tool belongs to you, it's documented, and it's simple enough for someone else to take over. We'd rather deliver small and useful than big and impressive.

Task and workflow automation

Useful automation is nothing spectacular. It's the Monday morning report already in your inbox when you arrive. It's the invoice that goes out on its own. It's the alert that warns you before the client notices.

We connect the tools you already use: your CRM, accounting, forms, email, spreadsheets. When a ready-made integration exists, we use it. When it doesn't, we write it.

Every automation is monitored. If it fails, you know the same day, not three weeks later when you notice data is missing.

What we are often asked

How long until a first version?

Small tool: one to three weeks. Application or portal: two to six weeks for a first usable version.

Who owns the code?

You do. It ships with documentation and can be taken over by any team.

Can you improve existing software?

Yes. We start with a review of the code and hosting, then propose clear steps.

What if our needs change?

That's planned for. Tools are built to be changed, and you're not obliged to go through us forever.

Do we need to change our software?

Almost never. The goal is to make what you have work better, not replace everything.

How many hours can we recover?

We measure it before starting. If the gain doesn't justify the work, we'll tell you.
